The Refugee Council of Australia (RCOA) has been conducting national consultations on issues for people from a refugee, humanitarian, and asylum seeking background for over 30 years. These consultations inform both our annual submission to the Government on Australia's Refugee and Humanitarian Program as well as our research, policy development, and campaign work.
This year, we are changing the format of our consultations: we will hold a workshop-style day for people to both hear the latest updates on policies and issues and to also provide their feedback, insights, and ideas about how Australia can develop more humane policies and practices for all people from a refugee background.
The workshop will be divided into three broad policy sections:
1.) The Refugee & Humanitarian Program and International
2.) Settlement
3.) Asylum
Each section will begin with a brief update from RCOA staff members about the latest developments and activities related to the policy theme. We will then move into questions and answers and then feedback from organisations and individuals about the particular topic.
Participants are welcome to join for one, two, or all three of the policy sections.
Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
