To mark World Refugee Day and Pride month, join the Refugee Council of Australia in conjunction with Democracy in Colour for an important Refugee Week event focused on centering and celebrating LGBT+ refugees and people seeking asylum.

Let’s shine a light upon these invisible voices within the LGBT+ community.  We will invite a number of people to offer their thoughts, reflections and experiences of the experience of seeking asylum and settling in a country like Australia who are LGBT+ identifying. This include some performances and spoken word poetry.

We will then have a community discussion about how we might work together to resolve some of the challenges and tensions faced by LGBT+ people with lived experience seeking asylum in Melbourne.

This will be followed by social time to chat and enjoy some light refreshments.
